Ballard extractor
Dec 11th, 2010 at 5:53pm
Print Post
I have a Marlin Firearms Co. #2 Ballard chambered for the 44W cartridge and so marked on the top barrel flat.  If I am not careful when loading a round, the cartridge will slip past the extractor and the extractor will jam against the back of the cartridge when I go to close the action. Frustrating to say the least.

Any ideas on how to correct this would be most welcome. Thanks.

Regards,
Bradford

To retain the extractor in the foreward position get into the habit of pushing it foreward. By your finger. If you have the lever down fully it will hold the extractor out so don't hold the lever in the full open position.. Most, but not all Ballards are/have this difficulty.
