How do you measure black powder in the case? Thanks for your answer, Hank45

I used to compress don't anymore. It's a valid method but I found weighing I got the same amount of powder in the case with a drop tube. When loading fixed 38/55

Was also surprised to find by using the scale to check breech seating at the shooting bench tapping the side of the case with a brass rod allowed the same amount of powder to be used as a drop tube.  During a match it's the most practical method. Drop or compress is too time consuming for breech seating.  I do push a wad on top of the tapped case with a hand push seating tool. It has a stop ring so pressure is consistent.

I weigh with an ohaus scale.   Load with 24" drop tube. Place wad over
powder.

Use compression die and measure compression amount with digital calipers to insure that I get  desired amount of compression.

To get desired amount on new loads, I sneak up on it via a few turns of the compression die and taking a reading.

GOEX seems to like compression.

I've shot several pounds of GOEX FFF express through one of my 32/40s.

Tap the case and seat a card wad. set the bullet on the wad and it's loaded. No sizing at all and the cases have lasted over twenty reloads without loosing a case.  I did loose some cases at first.
