Blueing Roller Block and Hammer

I have an old Roller that someone has polished the breechblock and hammer. I would like to restore to the original heat blued (?) color. Is there an easy way to do this? No cold blue, rust is not right, looks like fire or heat blue to me---
     Thanks. Doug

Hello Doug:

The original finish would have been carbona blue. John Gillette at Classic Guns Inc. does a great job at reasonable prices.

Nitre blue is a heat treat salts bath method of darkening steel.  Carbona is a "dry" method.  Very good discussion on both methods at doublegunshop.com forum  (Sorry for the extra long link!):  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Dave,

She's a beauty! Really nice job!
