I have one trigger pull on mine ... less that an ounce. Paul Shuttleworth even adjusted mine today with new springs.  What's the min - max pull on your CPA Stevens?

I guess we could set the triggers for about any max pull---I can get about one ounce  min pull on my CPA's but, on cold mornings they may need re-adjusting.  I have had no problems with the CPA triggers.    ledball

Have two, both very light, too light for my old trigger pull gauge to measure.  They are very reliable, can hang on the trigger without it going off when shooting offhand.

My older rifle, 17 yrs in service, had Paul renew the springs once or twice when the action was back for barrel fittings.  It has been shot a lot with black powder and subject to more rigours cleanings than the newer gun which is only used with smokeless. Cleaning means solvent dripped into the action which is a dirt magnet on triggers. Get dirty any of the sets can have issues. I make sure I blow mine with air after cleaning. best to run triggers dry.

Boats, your older rifle firms up my convictions ... the older ones had a lighter trigger pull then possibly the new rifles

Mine is a 1991 production.  When I was at CPA yesterday, asked Paul what the min - max pull was.  He stated 'about 3 oz max'  Mine is less than an ounce with the adjustment screw in and out!  Guess I'll just have to be careful with my trigger finger to avoid an AD or modify the DST springs, which I don't want to do

For the Good of the Order, my front trigger pull is 11# 4oz.  It could be lightened with the hammer spring adjustment screw but then that's going to effect the DST tension

John Boy

I have a newer rifle too 1997 it's trigger is about the same as the 1993.  Tell the truth I never got anything out of twisting the adjustment screw If the trigger won't set tightening will make it set but turning the adjustment, if in fact that's what it's for,  does not seem to change the pull at all.

I never knew you could get the hammer to drop pulling the front without setting the rear. If it 9 or 10 lbs never pulled it that hard.

I to use the finger lever to keep from AD's   Routine is to load off target close the breech, place the buttplate, Cock the hammer as I raise the gun to the sights.  Then settle on target confirm NPA. Lift my head off the stock look at the target off eye and visualize the strike

Then cock the set trigger as a distinct seperate step & hold my trigger finger in the lever's hook while coming back down to the sights.  Cheek on the cheek piece then move my finger to the trigger tickle it while the sights are settling and break the shot.

Don't get it off for 2 or 3 seconds go back to finger on the lever lift my head visualise the strike and go through it again. I have done this 3 or 4 times before breaking the shot sometimes.  If 3 or 4 won't give me a shot open the breech put the gun down and think it over before going through it again.

Without the hook on the finger lever I would get AD's for sure.

It's the best trigger I shoot.
