I have a trapdoor that has had the wood cut down but its in beatiful shape otherwise, with very nice color. There doesnt appear to be much finish on it, and I woudl normally put a few coats of Tru-oil on it. However, I bought some beeswax, turpentine and linseed oil finish and I am thinking about using it on this stock. Has anyone had any experience with it? I basically want to give it some protection against moisture. Thanks, Joe S

A finish that I use that was tested by submerging the wood under water for a week is 50/50 mix of Spar varnish and Linseed oil. I apply 3 coats.

My trapdoor has a weak finish. Wood is in good shape. What should I use if anything to improve the looks and durability while keeping it original? Do not want to sand or refinish. Maybe some oil?

   Frank, That's about what Tru-Oil is.                                               Jimmy, Just rub in some hardware store Boiled Linseed Oil, 1 or 2 coats should do it.                 ...MIKE...
