"bloop tube" questions

If/When one were to make a bloop tube to extend sight radius and/or add front end weight; does firing a smaller diameter bullet down the larger diameter bore of the bloop tube create any problems?  I'm talking about a .32 diameter bullet here and I'd like the outside of of the larger smoothbore extension to match up to the outside of the original short barrel smoothly---no gas pipe thank you..   I'm envisioning a section of rifle barrel threaded onto the end of the original and turned to match.  Assuming an OD of 1 inch  what would you make the bore of the bloop tube---remembering I want some added forward weight?  could you drill out all but the last inch or two at 3/4 or so with a 45 cal hole in the muzzle section?

Well John Taylor did just that for my .22 caliber Roller. It had a stubby little 20" barrel and I wanted a 30" bloop tube so John made up a piece of mild steel and threaded it to the barrel, then turned and polished it down to barrel diameter. Mine is around .40 caliber for the last 10" and it shot wonderfully before and after the barrel extension was built.
I rust blued the barrel and the joint is only visable if I tell someone about it and they start looking. Otherwise nobody ever notices it's been extended.

Many years ago I had a German made falling block rifle in 4MM rim fire. The actual barrel length was around 8" and the rest was free bore about 5/8" for about 20". Neat rifle and as soon as I got rid of it the collectors wanted it, value jumped about $5,000. If I would have held on to it for just another month Cry

I have a German Aydt 22 LR rifle that has a one piece octagon barrel that is bored back, about .50,  to about 18 inches from  30".  It appears to be original but I have never seen any informationon this.

i assumed that this was to give the maximum velocity out of the 22 LR ammo.

It has a schuetzen type stock and butt plate with double set triggers.

Marlin-guy & John that's a nice job.  Cut back and blooped barrels are seen time to time on Silhouette rifles.  Idea is shorter barrel time for offhand.  I always thought they were ugly, but that roller proves me wrong.
