Sorry to have thrown you off there. I like both rifles and so I just commented on the fact that I liked the fact that your forend was attached with a wedge instead of screwed on! I think it just adds to any single shot. And as a matter of fact I have a set of sights and wedge I am thinking about using on an upcoming project!

I'd like to thank all who took the time to post their favorite martini's. Makes me want to run out to the garage and pull the shotgun bbl off my greener and have someone fit a 50-70 bbl on it. Been messing with smith & wessons lately and some of them are downright expensive. There I said it, let the flames begin. The 50-70 should make a great pig rifle. With all the flooding here in louisiana one sherrif said it was legal to shoot any hog they see, except the ones with the horns. Frank

Is your Greener a take down? If not you could still make that rascal look good, and in 50/70 Gov it will turn some heads! I loaded for, and shot the 50/70 for many years and then a fellow made me an offer on my Sharps that I could not refuse (I am sorry now!!)..... Good luck on your project should you choose to do so. I am posting another picture of my Bob Snapp take down 45/70 with the original 12 gauge barrel. It will probably get a new forend in the near future the one on it now is the original!!

I think between the 2 options it would fall into the chocolate and vanilla category. Each person would have a different perspective. Both are attractive and ready to use, let's get a poll from the rest of this thread!!!! How about some input guys!!! Take care and God bless....cordell

Cordell, its a solid frame police gun. The bbl is pitted both outside and inside. The receiver though is in pretty good shape. Had been giving some thoughts about the project but since money is tight most likely will be awhile. Thanks for the pics, Frank
