Was over visiting at Mr. Steve Earle's web site and had the pleasant experience of finding this;

Some months ago one of these actions was barrelled  by another artist in steel Mr Glenn Fewless. Chambered for the .303 British rifle round. Pictures of the partly  finished rifle were put up on the WWW but I couldn't recall of which Forum, but I did a search and found them, to save you all cussing on a Sunday morning.

The round barrel and the top rib was all machined out of one piece of steel. Traditional English hunting rifle sights are fitted. Even the matting on the top of the rib is to drool over. I think it most probably the most magnificently made barrelled action made in the last century.

Glenn, If you read this would you please post some pictures of that rifle in its finished state in this forum. Cool

What would a complete rifle be priced at would I suppose depend on the person ordering it and their specifications. At a guess I'd say probably around the five figure mark as a minimum, not counting the cents. Cry

  Thanks Harry for showing the barreled up version of the Fraser.  It is absolutely impeccable in every detail.  Someone, in addition to Mr. Steve Earle, deserves much applauds and another pint on me for a very difficult job well done.

That barreled action, is even in the unstocked "white" one of the finest pieces of "gun-porn" I have ever laid eyes on, and on the table at EG over the years we have see some of the finest of the best.   Steve and Glen had it on display there during the Spring Match. It left in the hands of stock-master Doug Mann who will work his magic on it.
I anticipate that the Journal will have more photos of it in upcoming editions.  I imagine that it will be an award winner at the next Custom Gun builders guild meeting.  Tragically dreams of it as an ASSRA Raffle Rifle were VERY QUICKY dashed.
   The Fraser actions themselves are available from Steve along with his two Wesson actions.  I anticipate that this action like the other two will be superior to the originals in both fit and metallurgy.

I have seen Glenn Fewless' work in person. He is one of a group of incredible gun artists that are in what I have called the "Southeast Wisconsin/Northwest Illinois Gun Quarter" in an article I have written.

Hello Joel how about publishing a URL for a Website where it can be read or if possible post it on here, I'm sure a great many folks including me would be very interested indeed to read it. Cool

When Glen first published those pictures I was intrigued as to how the rib was fitted to the barrel, so I wrote and asked him. As always, he courteously replied saying it was a CNC project and it was made in one piece from a 2" dia. rifled blank. Now CNC machines can, with the correct tools, remove metal at a rate almost too fast for the eye to follow, and I suppose it probably took a couple of hours to do the machining. Afterwards it would have to be hand polished for quite a while. However, writing the programme must have been horrendous in time costs
The programme has to be perfect in every detail otherwise the job is simply scrap.  Cry
Regards,
Harry Eales

Joe Salter has been working to resurrect the Canadian Journal of Arms Collecting and I have promised the article to him. If he can't pull it off, I'll happily post it here. Peter Moucka who is another gunmaker in the same area, makes similarly machined, one piece barrels (albeit without CNC) for the beautiful, custom 7X57 Mauser sporters he makes.
