Source for tang sight screws for a Favorite?

Any one know of a source?  I need 2--believe they are 5X40 (1/8" dia.) thread.  Oval, slotted head.

Either used or perhaps a source for new gun screws like them as well? (don't care for Numrich--too hard to figure out what they have and the condition)
Thanks,

  Hi Steve,

Yes, CPA does in fact have the 5-40 threaded screws that fit the two mounting holes in the tang of the J. Stevens " Favorite " rifles, however, they will not be with an oval head, as you suggest.

The correct head for that application will be a Fillister head.  As an alternative source, may I suggest you contact the Brownells Co. where a quantity of that particular screw may be had for approximately 1/3 of the price charged elsewhere.

The screw head is not likely to fit...the diameter will be too small.

Creedmoormatch,
Thanks for the tip on the filister head!  I usually get an order up for Brownells and / or Midway about once a month

Will use your advice for sure

Thanks again
Steve

I have used the ones from CPA. I used them on original Stevens sights and Lyman sights. Screw head diameter is right for the Lyman but too large for the Stevens. Had to turn the head down to fit the Stevens. Battery drill and file works if you are like me and don't have a lathe. I am not sure what the correct screw head profile is for the Lyman and Stevens sight screws. The CPA's function ok and look ok to me.

Lots of input--it's a Lyman sight, so I'll probably go with CPA.  I'll measure the holes and ask them too.

Thanks all!

Steve,

All of the oriiginal Lyman tang sight screws I have ever seen have had a sort of oval head, usually a little smaller and perhaps thinner than normal.  YMMV

If you can spec the screw and take a few measurements, Joe at (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) can make you anything you want.  He does great work and doesn't charge much.
