I think that was 7 times 70 which equaled the 490 years from the time the order went out to rebuild the temple till the stoning of Stephan or something like that. The amount of time God gave Israel to repent as a nation. I may need to get back to the study more. That's a whole study in itself how the numbers in the Bible have more than one meaning. For example, the two witness = the law and the prophets, the old and new testament, the two lamp stands, the sward with two edges and a bunch more. #2 use 21 times in the book of Danial and Rev.
Here I go again, getting myself in trouble.

  John, .   .   .   . "Shalom"

When Jesus is asked by Peter , " Lord, if my brother sins against me how often most I forgive him ?  As many as 7 times ? "  Jesus answered, " I say to you, not 7 times, but 70 times 7 "
Matthew  18:22

John, I intentionally use a higher number when I want to express to someone else just how many times Jesus has actually forgiven me for my trespasses, so I say " 70 times 70 " ( or 4900 times ) in my case in order to make the point that His forgiveness and love for His people is an unending love like no other.
