Quote: as accurate as a new replacement barrel?
Thank You, John
The word " accurate " is a relative term, since what is considered as being accurate by one shooter, may be quite another thing to a second shooter.
The premium 22 R.F. liners being installed and used today is a product obtained from T.J.'s Enterprises and they are hammer forged state of the art. There are less expensive liners available, but the quality is not what is to be found in a T J's liner.
The resulting accuracy is obtained contingent upon the quality of the installation, i.e., the skill and experience of the smith doing the installation. My advice is to seek out a true barrel smith, the one that comes to mind is Mr. John Taylor who entered his appearance in the posting pertaining to the adhesive used for liner installations.
If you are contemplating re-working a period rifle, it's an advantage to keep the original profile, along with the original factory roll stamping for authenticity reasons, so re-line not re-barrel.
Bottom line, I would need to know more as to what rifle you are speaking about, is the action safe, and the type of shooting you are contemplating, and the degree of accuracy you are seeking to achieve. What degree of M.O.A. and at what distance ?
