Good day guys
I have a Cimarron/Uberti Hi Wall in 40-65, 1-18 twist which at best shoots poorly. Shoots the RCBS 300gr bullet best with very slow powder(wc860/wc872). The faster powders 5744/4759 are really bad.Won't handle the 400gr bullets at all, I assume because of the slow twist. So- I'm thinking about re-barreling it. Questions are whose barrel(like to keep the same profile so no stock work) and who does that kind of work? Any comments or suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Bob

I can install a new barrel and contour to match the old barrel. I have been using McGowen, Douglas and green mountain barrel blanks  with good success.

I have a shiloh sharps in 40-65 which has a 1-16 twist and loves the Saeco 740 and Lyman 410660 but doesn't do well with the RCBS 300gr, all with 5744.

I'll be in touch. What state are you in?

I'm in Washington.  I have a takeoff barrel for the Uberti in 38-55 that had the same problem, didn't shoot to well. Can't see anything wrong with it and it slugs fine. Can't always tell if a barrel will shoot good or not. Seen some bad looking barrels that shot great.
