I'm building a nice Rolling Block 45/70 and was thinking of having the barrel engaved with the caliber and my shop logo. Has anyone here had a barrel laser engraved before bluing? What was the cost like and how did it come out?

It's taste and I would not criticize somebody else's, my preference for nice single shots is stamped just like the old days. Past that there is no substitute for Hand Engraving

Laser is new machine done and obviously.  I saw a nice mid 1970's  S&W M 24 in a shop the other day priced under current market.  Looking for a steal asked to see the gun. Offside not visible from the case was the owners name laser engraved, by the S&W factory no doubt it's a service they are offering now.  You might look at there web site to see the prices.

It took hundreds off the selling price of the gun, I passed on it.
