Does anyone out there have an idea on where I can locate a rear barrel mounted sight like this one in the picture?

Mike,

Try "Track of the Wolf" they carry lots of sights including some similar to yours.

Yea, TOTW does have one like that but without the "Arrow" motif...  I saw one just like that manufactured in Germany so check the web in Europe for M/L sight suppiers..

Good luck ...

Track of the Wolf is close, I have enclosed a picture of a Peabody rifle that I found somewhere, this is the one with this rear sight on it. Does anyone recognize the rifle and maybe know the owner? I also think it may have been made over seas somewhere.
Thanks
Mike

The arrow sight is SO cool! A very unusual motif, and perfectly executed.  Please keep us updated with what you find.

Looks like the sight may have been hand made or cast  by a modern custom maker.

To all with any interest in this I found the smith who made this. He is now working up a quote for me and he is willing to make a run of several at once, I guess they are machined and then hand engraved and cut.
His name is Thomas Curran and he is located in up state New York. I'll enclose a link to his web site. He is a machinst by trade and a gunsmith and engraver to.Take a look at his web site and you will be amazed at the quality of work here.
When I get a price I will post it here.

That picture is a breech end of a new Jaeger rifle he is building. This picture is the greek-Roman God of the Hunt Pan, in solid silver and is on the rifle cheek piece.

Hi Harry, did you have a chance to look over his web site? Awsome stuff to say the least. He even made siler headed hand made ring shank nail's. That's devotion to the gunmaking art.

Hello Mike,

I did indeed look at his website, he's a one of a kind. Most folk who work on guns are pretty capable in one field or another, machining, blueing, engraving, heat treatment, stocking etc, etc. But this guy is superb at everything.

His work exudes talent, skill and artistry of the highest order.

Harry
