#4 Rolling Block firring pin

Have an early model #4 in .22 rimfire but the firing pin strikes above the extractor. Whilst it hits the cartridge well it is too far in to set it off.The firing pin on this rifle is very fine, as I have another that has its firing pin about twice the diameter of the .22. To get it shooting I thought it may be possible to either extend the pin by welding a rail to the bottom of the pin to make it keyshaped, and also alter the block to let the altered pin go through it,  or get/make a firing pin of a larger diameter  and increase the size of the firing pin hole in the block . Any suggestions

Was this rifle a 32 or 25 rimfire in a previous existence, relined or re-barreled to .22?  Or, you may simply have a replacement breechblock from one of them.  Simplest would be to find a .22 block and firing pin...difficult in the US, harder in Oz... Smiley

Aussie,
I would think that if the gun was modified from a 25 or 32, the pin strike would be lower, not high like you're seeing. My suggestion is to make a new pin and make the tip an up & down wedge, not round. You can bevel the wedge to make the bottom of the pin strike the cartridge.
Regards, Ron

38cal,I thought it was an original .22 but I have another with a much fatter firing pin in the correct position for .22rf but bought it as .32rf. think the suggestion that I swap them over it the easy way out as both are takedowns. Thanks for your help David A.

Changed over blocks and went to range yesterday, worked perfectly except block isn't staying properly closed and has to be held. should I lift the block side of the spring or any other suggestions? thanks David A.

Wisner's has new springs. Look at the block where the spring hits it and make sure it is the same as the one you took out. I found that a Crescent breach block looks the same as a Remington except the spring is on the opposite side.
Also the breach block can be welded up to make it snap closed better.
