Hi:
I need a fair price for an 1885 HW that I am interested in buying from a friend. Allow me to describe it.
Serial number 57XX
Sporter model
Wood has a scratches in a few places
The inside of the barrel is like new
The front sight has a hood with two posts that rotate 90 degrees.
One post is black and the other has a white bead
The barrel is full octagonal with a light brown patina finish
The corners of the barrel has slight wear showing
There is a buckhorn sight on the barrel
There is a vernier sight on the tang
There is a very faint CC in the action
The metal is gun is 100%
The barrel length is 30"
The barrel crown is like new
The action locks up like new
The owner who know nothing about firearns picked a number of $2000.00 for the gunas he thinks that it is worth that as it is old and in a rare caliber.
The gun has been in his wife's family since new.
The orginal loading tool, bullet and lead dipper is included and they are in great conditionl
There are 5 boxes of factory loads and 5 boxes of reloads, lead bullets included
I would like to buy this gun but I have no idea of the value and do not want to pay too much!
Kindly advise me of what a fair price would be for this rifle.
TIA,
Zeke
