I upgraded to a faster Broadband speed last week and was disappointed.
I have a friend who earns a crust working with computers and he came along on Saturday and checked the bits and pieces on my computers to see if they were at fault. Clean bill of health and I was only getting a twentieth of the speed I was paying for. The fault lies somewhere from my house back to the internet provider.

    I'm out in the country, way out, and the world wide web is barely here yet.

    For a point of reference, ALL McDonald's outlets now have free WiFi internet access which is High Speed.

   I'll drive into town, go through the "drive-in", order a cup of coffee and sit in my Jeep in their parking lot, .   .   .   . connect my lap top to their system, and enjoy a cup of coffee while I text with you !

    Can't beat it,  but of course the price of gas doesn't make it cost effective.

You must be in New Zealand! That test does not work well for us in the US, my speed shows slow on that test as well, I have Comcast and have very good speed.

For US users try this one, and chose a location near you.

Screwed up again.
Just goes to show that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Apparently in the US you will get a false reading because as this is a NZ site and we are a bit backward over and the new fibre optic cable across the ocean isn't working yet (might still only be on the drawing board) that the reading you will get is something like the speed that it can come from NZ to the continent of America. Which is why you have to put which city you are in from that other site as America is so vast that it can affect the speed that you can download it. Or something like that. So I have now been told. Well I think thats what I have been told. 
Yet my download speed is twice as fast from San Francisco when I clicked on that city but my upload speed whatever that is, is down a fraction. I think I will leave it at that and hope somebody more computer literate will now take over.
