Personally I would avoid anybody on Ebay and anything Unetril. Name is so large lots of people taking advantage of things.

For Reticle work I used to use TK Lee and think he still does them.  Or you could get in touch with Gill Parsons and get his recommendation

I had TK Lee do a Unertl scope for me last fall. It took about 3 months to come back but the work was perfect. a fine cross with an 18 min dot. 
Next fall I'll send them my Mitchell.

What is involved in removing the reticule? I have an 8X and the vertical crosshair is kind of wavy, sort of a mild S shape but holds a perfect zero. It was this way when I obtained the rifle so I have know idea how it could get that way and still work.

reticule is easy to remove and a straight cross hair is easy to repair except finding the material. It is thinner then a average hair (tried that once way to heavy). Does anyone know where to get the material?

... or try spider silk.  You can split that down too and find the thickness/thinness you want.  That was traditional.

To remove the reticle on an Unertl scope, first remove the eyepiece lens , just unscrew it, then there are 2 screws on the ring just infront of the threads and ocular lens lock ring, remove those 2 screws and the reticule should slide out, if not you may need to use a small hook of some sort to give it a little nudge. 
As far as replacement wires go, a while back someone had advertised on here that he had .0015 and .0005 diameter wire for sale. The price was I think $15 for 10 feet. The .0015 is about right for a standard scope wire. 
In the Unertl reticle the wires are held in with 4 small screws and it looks like they may have some kind of sealant on them also to keep things from coming loose.
Two things I do know about this wire, it is very hard to see with the unaided eye and it is very hard to cut.  Also if you have a short piece and sneeze, most likely its gone.

John, there is very little wire that sticks out from the screws that hold it in place and my best guess is that you stand a much better chance of breaking the wire than you do in straightening it out. If you can live with a  bit of a droopy wire and it still holds zero, I would just leave it alone. That wire is very small and not easy to work with.
