first RIFLE chambered for .22 short (.22-3-29)

hello, Here is somthing I have been trying to find out for years and have seen absolutly nothing in print. We all of us have heard ad nauseum, of how smith&wesson developed the .22 short in 1857, & brought out their 1st. model revolver for it.  But who was the FIRST maker of a RIFLE to chamber this round. Some will say Win. with their mod. 1873 but this was 16 years later..and this chambering wasn,t available until a few years after anyway.  I believe it was Frank Wesson with his two trigger rifle. Next in line was probably rolling block , either Remington, or Whitney. Also this ctg. probably wasn,t even called a "short" then, not until the "long" came out in 71'.  This seems to me to be of too great a historical import. to be merely ignored.  How about it guy,s any ideas? Undecided

I think you are correct with Frank Wesson being the first, maybe 1859.  His pocket rifles are reported to have appeared about 1860.  The Allan & Wheelock single shot is also said to have appeared about 1860.  I think other makers would have jumped in, but war production contracts were far more lucrative.

Flayderman lists both Remington & Whitney making rolling blocks immediately after the war, with production from about 1867.  Holden, Hopkins & Allen, Forehand & Wadsworth and Granville Henry also produced 22 rimfire rifles before 1873.

HoT: Glyph of Flash of Light: Your Flash of Light heals for 50% less initially, Cheap wow gold buy wow power leveling aion wedding dresses  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) but also heals for 140% of it's inital effect over 12 sec. Here you can buy professional WoW powerleveling.AoE: Besides beacon being aoe in a sense... Glyph of Holy Light: Your Holy Light grants 10% of it's heal amount to up to 5 friendly targets within 100 yds of the initial target. This is another reason to make use of Holy (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) Light. You have Beacon active on your tank and someone else in the raid takes a beating of some kind, you can cast your 1 second holy light on condition that you've played your cards right, w/ your Divine Favor and hit an 8k heal to not only that target, but also to your (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) tank and then 800 to 5 other raid members w/in 100 yards of your original target.So... personally you didn't go w/ the FoL glyph, cause you don't like the idea of the 50% less initial hit. I did take the HL glyph, cause it's amazing, while (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) you also went with this combo: Glyph of Divinity: Your Lay on Hands also grants you as much andesidef mana as it grants your target. Glyph of Lay on Hands: Increases the mana restored by your Lay on Hands spell by 20%. Since LoH is now 0 mana and w/ points a 16 min cd, (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) you can now offer 50% added armor to your tank and 1080 mana to yourself. zdm.

Well, about .22 shorts:

I am not a good authority but when did FLobert make a similar round? Isn't he credited with the first rimfire bullet in the 1840's?? I know it is the bulleted breech cap, shortly followed by the conical breech cap. But when did he (and those who made his style of rifle) lengthen the case??

I may be way off on this. I have some VERY old flobert rounds in an original carton. They are not even really a rimfire at that point. Truly look like a bulleted cap.

Merwin.
