Canadian Club Not Listed

Why is the Canadian Club: the Alberta Schuetzen Guild no longer listed as a club? The Club paid a multi-year membership and we are not even listed on your web page.

In the past our regional club couldn't get their records reported and now we cannot even get our Club listed even when we paid our membership.

So what support is provided by the ASSRA to the regional clubs when they pay their membership? Our Club has paid membership at least back to 1996 and all I we have ever received from ASSRA is the yearly membership certificate (but not on subsequent years when we paid for more than one year).

All other Associations I have been a member of, supply annual reports and forward suggested amendments to rules and regulations etc.
Has any ASSRA Club ever received any correspondence or rule changes or the fincancial status of the Asscociation or received any other information including a notice of their competitons. After paying membership for more than 17 years we have never ever received anything at all from ASSRA except a notice to pay our annual membership.

You guys are not the only ones. We also have some problems in the states.

A friend of mine shot in his very first a ASSRA match toward the end of last year,  this was his very first time shooting in a Schuetzen event, and it was at a ASSRA affiliated club shooting under ASSRA rules, it was not a large event, only about 12 other shooters but he thought he did ok, in fact he shot so well that we thought he may have won one of the events.

After waiting for about two months and not receiving the results of the match, he finally got hold of the guy that ran the ASSRA event and asked when the results was going to be sent as he wanted to see how his score compared with others that shot, was told that it was decided that it wasn't a official ASSRA event and being the event was not an official event no results were sent out and the targets that were handed in were thrown away. Needless to say he may not waste his time going to any other ASSRA schuetzen events at that club. Not a good experience for a first timer.

Have you contacted Martin Stenbach, the Clubs Coordinator? It may just be nothing more nefarious than a simple oversight. If you are paying your club dues you should be listed on the clubs page. A simple phone call to Martin will probably clear all this up. You can find Martins contact information on the title page of the Journal.
As to annual reports, rule changes and other news. That is what the Journal is for I have published the minutes of the annual General Membership meetings in the Journal and published all the rule changes, both constitutional and match, that have been made since I have become the editor.

I never thought much of the fact the Canadian club wasnt listed.  I thought it was just the way it was.  Huh
Since when did we let those Canadians join our clubs?
Well there goes the neighborhood!   Grin

Still waiting for Martins reply about our International Money Order we submitted to him in January 2009 to pay for both the 2009 and 2010 membership.

So far he says communication is through the Journal.

And us poor Canadians always thought it took two parties to communicate and it required an interaction. Seems ASSRA does not like to interact with anyone.

Never received your money order.

I never said communication was through the Journal.

I did say that the clubs amendments and annual reports were published in the Journal.

All clubs that do not respond to the first letter concerning their affiliation receive a second letter sent out in Feb.  I always count that as a communication.  You also did not communicate with me about not receiving your Affiliation Certificate.

Since your club paid for the money order we never received the ASSRA will extend your club affiliation through the end of 2010.

I hope this resolves this matter.

Something is not right, if there money order was never received how come the were given credit for 2009 but not 2010, Schuetzendave said :

"International Money Order we submitted to him in January 2009 to pay for both the 2009 and 2010 membership"

Kind of hard to say that the MO was never received when they were given credit for 2009 but not 2010. I think it was just a mistake and someone forgot to give them credit for 2010, or if the MO was really not received then they were given a "free"  club affiliation for 2009.

Set trigger you simply don't know what you are talking about.

There were two other clubs that never paid also and they were also listed for all of last year.

When I receive a check for the dues the certificate for affiliation is sent out that day or the next.  If you want to verify this ask any other affiliated club what the usual response time is for the return of their certificate.  The question in my mind now becomes why did Dave not inquire as to why he did not get a certificate shortly after he sent in the dues.  He always received a certificate shortly after all previous renewals.

Therefore, if you all don't like the way I am doing things here is an invitation to take over the job.  Just let me know and I will send all my records to you.

mes,
No need to get nasty or upset.  I was only trying to say that no one is perfect and sometimes mistakes are made. You are probably correct, I probably don't know what I'm talking about, but as a member I was just asking a general question in a general conversation and did not mean it to be anything more that that.

I'm sure it's none of my business as to why clubs would be listed all of last year but did not pay there dues. I'm not looking for any answer to that,  again it's probably none of my business or any other members business.

I just thought that a member could ask questions like that and even offer ideas as to the fact that maybe a simple mistake was made and there was a simple way to make it right. I'll know better next time.

Your probably right, it may have been Dave's mistake for not inquiring as to why he did not get a certificate. I'm sure that your doing your job to the best of your ability and that it's better than what some others would do.

Sorry I said anything or offered the idea that maybe a mistake was made, I think we all know now that mistakes are not made.

I was going to ask why there hasn't been any updated info on the ASSRA web site most is 2003 2004 2005 information depending on what part of the site one looks at .........
But I don't think its that important given the sensitivity I feel here.
Most people don't care anyway about any info they might see there anyway I guess.
When I`m curious about a club or association now a day I know the first place I check to learn about what an how their doing I general check out the web site for up to-date information.
Just my thoughts.
