The Alberta Schuetzen Guild has reviewed their 20 year participation as a Club with the ASSRA and have decided to permantly discontinue their membership after completion of the June, 2010 RKS International Benchrest Competition. In future years this competition will proceed under a new affiliation and rules.

I should have done this earlier. When I went off on my little rant I had not read the complete post by set trigger.  Should have done so.  I hereby render my apology to him.  Hope he accepts it.

I will reply to Mr Schuetzendave later.

OK so now there’s blood on the floor. Maybe we could use this as a teaching moment. What could have been done to avoid the situation? Lets review.
Dave is angry that the Alberta Schuetzen Guild was dropped from the list of ASSRA clubs. He sent a money order but got nothing after that. What could Dave been done differently?
Martin sent multiple notices to the Guild but received no reply. He continued to carry the guild on the rolls for an extra year in hopes that they would communicate but after a year of no response he dropped the club from the rolls. What could Marty have done differently?
In an effort to make this a better organization what could / should have been done to avoid this situation.
What could / should Dave have done after sending in the clubs money and receiving no reply?
What could / should have Martin done after sending out multiple notices and receiving no reply?
I have some thoughts but I am more interested in what you think.

What I would have done if I sent funds to anybody and not received any kind of acknowledgement of what I send the funds in for, I would have contacted whomever I sent the funds to in the first place asking if the funds were received, after a reasonable length of time of course.

IF I got notices saying I needed to send the funds in I would have immediately got hold of the bank or institution that issued the MO or check and see if it had been cashed, then get hold of whomever the funds were sent to and let them know what had transpired

To get your scores into the Journal and on this forum can be accomplished in a couple of ways. Send them to me and I will post them on the forum and send them to the editor or send them to the editor and have them posted on the forum by your Schuetzenmeister.  Your Schuetzenmeister will have to gain access from Josh Borton.

As for updating the home page of the ASSRA I can only access and update the clubs portion.  I have been sent instructions on how to do this and not being very good at working with a web site the results look a bit odd to say the least.  My first few attempts were a disaster and it has not improved much since then.

I am a member of other organizations. When we take action with someone we always notify them the action is be taken and why. No one indicated we were  not in compliance. The notice sent to us were before we shipped our payment in January 2009; not after.

A decision was made against the Club without any communication with the Club. That is what has irrtated this Club over the years is there is no oppportunity for them to provide input regarding their issues. Whenever the Club has tried to bring forward their issues all we ussually get is some ranting response. We have decided we would rather be a member where they allows us to actually particpate and that we are more of a member than just being requested for our funds.

In regards that I had not responded to not receiving an Affiliation Certificate. The ASSRA has not confirmed receipt of our paymment in years gone by so this does not idicate to us that our payment had not been received. Since 1990 we have only received an Affiliation Certificate 8 times after paying membership over 20 years. The years we were given an Affiliation Certificate upon completion of our payment were the years:

1990, 1993, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2006.

I give up. Nothing I say will seemingly make a difference. I will post no more on this thread.

Too bad questioning as members, caused such bad feelings!
I missed the match results on the web site they were updated in 2007 ...sorry all to he**.
Anyway it doesn't matter if no-one cares or takes it as an insult if a member questions why thing are as they are!
It is sad, its that way because most newcomers look at the associations web page to see what an association is about, is what my point was...
But if the ASSRA don't want new people to join and participate an make us stronger then its ok as it stands. But I assumed that's why we have a forum, a place to voice questions, ask for other members suggestions, receive both praise and criticism, make announcements, communicate with others with similar interests, and have good constructive debates .. obviously its not in this case.
I'M TRULY SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENT QUESTIONS.

Well we must be getting close to spring. Cabin fever has set in and we’re fighting like cats in a bag.
SST, the match results are now posted in section titled “ASSRA Match Scores” on the forum. It was moved there to make it easier for Marty to post scores. Marty takes the score sheets that are sent to him by the Schützenmeisters puts them into a format that will fit on that site, puts them on the site and forwards them to me for publication in the Journal. Two points here, first posting on the forum is far different, and, easier than changing elements of the website. Second, posting the scores in any kind of consistent format is a time consuming process. Personally I spend more time on getting the scores that are sent to the Journal in to some kind of order and consistency than any other thing I do in the Journal.
As to updating the website this is a lot harder that most of you realize. I have had what are suppose to be the instructions for changing the pages on the website and in a year I cant manage to get them in at one point I managed to erase some information from one of the pages but that’s as far as I have gotten and I can’t figure out how I did that. I have 6 pages of updated information that I have created and can’t figure out how to amend the website to post them. Is there anyone out there that can help? If there is anyone who can help then please contact me through a PM at this site or write or call me at my numbers listed on the title page in the Journal.
Thank You in advance for your help.

Thanks John for the info, I understand where your coming from.
It just seemed to me that in the early 2000's the site had articles, shoot info etc. and then about 06 every thing quit and I was curious as to why? And if anyone on here cares about it? My point was that not all visitors to a web site know to go to the forum to see things. And if one was to look at the ASSRA web page it appears as though the association no longer exists.
Maybe the ASSRA should hire someone with the ability to do some work as a webmaster (just a suggestion) during these tough times it might be a reasonable price.
The other day I was snooping around the web and came across a web site that was very well done in my opinion
and I wonder how they can do it and we cant???
Check out the Black powder cartridge site....Its very well done and when you open the site you know its a working association...
Sorry I dont remember the actual site info but just google it.
Just my thoughts and thanx again john for the civil explenation and Im not having "cabin fever" I assure you.
Been to busy casting an tuning for the season....

Very Nice site, very informative and somewhat up to date.
I believe it's done up and taken care of by volunteer help from members that know something about the web site. I was amazed that they have everything from BPCR to Air Rifles.

Getting back to the Affiliated club thing.
I have been shooting with six to eight other guys that shoot Schuetzen type rifles, nothing formal, we  just get together and have a good time shooting, only two of us are ASSRA members, thought maybe we could form a club and become ASSRA affiliated shooting under ASSRA rules, right now it's just an informal get together and we shoot any type of bullet, lead or jacked, about the only thing that we incest on is that the gun has a two piece stock, no bolt actions allowed, and no top breaks like encores so most are falling blocks and rolling blocks.

The first question I was asked was what are the benefits of being affiliated, sorry to say that after reading the ASSRA site I could not answer the question, only thing I found was that it takes 5 members to become affiliated and it cost extra $$.

Did I miss something, is there some benefit I'm not seeing ?.
If there is some benefit of being affiliated that I could pass on to our shooters maybe I'll try again this Spring.
