Joe,
I live near Lockport and can check with the Historical Society. Give Rudi a jingle and see if he knows anything.

If you can dig anything up Jeff I'd sure appreciate it.  Smiley

I did get some information from Steve Garbe on the WSU forum.  I really need to spend some money on new books.   Embarrassed

Boy, I'd sure love to have one Green Guy! I've only seen the one pictured in Ned Roberts book The Muzzle Loading Caplock Rifle. Have you ever seen one?

You guys back East are in the gravy for sure when it comes to old original rifles.

O.K. I'll be the dummy. Off the top of my head looks to be a slug rifle. From what little I can see the brass/bronze thing should be covering the false muzzle. More pictures please. You have about 40 members drooling on their keyboards. Frank

Hell of a chunk of iron Steve. The bullets measure .560. All the paper work calls it a .555.  Space age technology for it's time, about 1860 - 1870.
In the paper work theres a 200 yard target with a six shot group. It says the one bullet out of the group was shot without a wad. The other five make about a 1/4? 3/8? group.  All six shots measure about an inch.

A lovely rifle Joe, and with a weight of 55lbs it shouldn't have more recoil than a .22 blank. PMSL.

Congratulations my friend, a very nice find. I'm greener than Froggie.
