I met P.O. Ackley in Chicks shop.  Ackley was there as was I to pick up barrels.  That said a lot to me.  

In the years when I had my shop open, unless the customer specified otherwise I used nothing but Donnelly barrels and never had a complaint, just a bunch of requests for another  just like it!. 

Over the years Chick became more than just a barrel maker, he became a friend.  I always liked talking with him on the phone.  

Our last conversation earlier this year was about the research I am doing on the Martini for my book...he told me to give him a call if ever discovered how they machined the knuckle seat in the Martini action.  He always wondered how they did that.  Christmas morning I found the description.  Chick passed Christmas day.
