Ballard Arms - Onsted, MI (Read 5451 times)

	Has anyone had any recent dealings or contact with Ballard Arms in Onsted, Michigan? I have sent them several emails, NO REPLIES !!! I have called them on the phone and talked to the secretary and they never return my calls. I have left them voice mails and they never return my calls. Gary Ft Wayne, IN ASSRA # 10396

	I havent dealt with them since they quoted me a price of 50.00 for a Ballard extractor blank. That was over five years ago. Could be they made so much money this year they can take the holidays off? Joe.

	. . . . or it could well be that the company got a Bail Out/Assistance Check from the federal government; . . . they gave each of themselves a juicy year end bonus check; . . . and they all went on an extended vacation courtesy of the Liberals in Washington, D.C. . . . end of story !

	Last time I stopped in ;before Christmas they where busting their butts sending out parts. I left quickly as dealing with parts no. and addresses is hard enough,with extra company is a hasssle.A small company making a quality product,after a transcontinental move,realize that things don't run smoothly most any time and their product is very good and in demand.Expensive sure, wish I could afford one,maybe one day!I live close and drop in,they are always busy,polite and business like, I know Steve personally,but I ask my questions and move on as they are busy.The company can answer for it self,but my 2 cents is work with them and practice patience.We would all like a company like Ballard to continue,as we have seen others go under then wonder why? 	This morning I finally managed to get in touch with Ballard Arms and talked to Steve to confirm the fly they have will work in my Marlin Ballard. So I ordered the part. I won't be back in Indiana until Sunday, Jan 3. The part should be waiting for me when I arrive. We'll see how it goes. Stay tuned.

	There is a market out there for the very high end ultra custom single shots, always has been. It wasn't us proles or our grandfathers and great grandfathers, who were ordering up all those engraved fancy xx-wood ultra delux, winchesters, ballards stevens, etcscuuetzens and hunting rifles "back in the day". I doubt that many of the guys shooting rifles made by Pope, Schoyen and the rest were blue collar working stiffs. I suspect that the reason we even have those elegant survivors from the schuetzen era is that they WERE delux special and preserved in families that could afford to keep them because they could afford to keep them as a form of art. poor guys guns, if they had'em got changed over the generations. BUT in any case, Ballard has kept production of parts alive for those of us who lack the technical skills to machine the parts we need to repair and restore our guns. yeah they ain't cheap but they'd be a WHOLE lot more expensive if it wasn't for the fat cats who's commissions keep the company afloat
