Your thoughts on Stevens rarity...

Over the past ten years of collecting Stevens boys' rifles, this is the order of rarity I have seen here in the mid-west where I live, and  I make just about every gun show and gun auction within reasonable driving distance.
1. Sure Shot
2. Mod. 14 little Scout
3. Little Krag
4. Mod. 101
5. 14 1/2's
6. Juniors
7. Mod. 12 Marksman
8. Crack Shot #26 (both models)
9. Favorites
Now, within this listing I haven't mentioned calibers.  I have only seen a couple 26&1/2 Crack shots, or mod. 16's in smooth bore.  But within the main groupings this is the order I have been seeing these little guns in.  Also, I might add that my perusal of Gunbroker and other gun listings have corroborated my gunshow sightings.
I might also mention the early side plate favorite as one model I have only seen two of.
I would be interested in hearing the opinion of  other collectors as to what you feel is the rarity or scarcity of these little rifles is in your region of the country.

I am in Southern Illinois. Prety much agree with your consensus. What about the Maynard Jr? I see a few of these. Would rate it between 5 and 6 on your list. Had one Sure Shot in my hands a few years back. Condition was really poor and I passed on it for arround $100 to $125. Still kicking myself over that one. Ran a Little Scout 14 up to $500 recently on GB and never met the guys minimum. Then I chickened out. There is one on GB now but it is rough. Stock is cracked. Also never had a sideplate in my hands. Know where there is one, not in great shape. Guy wants $500. I would like to get it but bore is rough. I am still looking for the top 3 on your list. The 101 is on my list but not a high priority. See them on GB fairly often. Calibers do make a difference. Have a 26 1/2 Crackshot smoothbore.  Looking for .25 and .32. Just picked up a Marksman .25. Have .22 and .32. Have Favorites in .22, .25, and .32. Scopes are another whole subject. Picked up a Favorite with the correct factory scope a while back. Only one I have seen so far. It sort of amazes me how many boys rifles I ended up with. Primary interest is in 44's and 44 1/2's. First Stevens was 26 Crackshot .22. Still have it and it goes afer I am gone. Fascinating hobby. Welcome to the fun!

Ahh...How did I forget the little Maynard jr..  I have to put in between 4 & 5 on my list.  I have several, but their condition is not what I would like them to be.   Speaking of condition, I would like to up-grade my little Krag too.  It's nice but someone put a coat of Polyurethane on it.  It's a great hobby isn't it?

Strip the poly and use an oil finish. Will never be original again but would look better than poly.

Guess I can scratch the Little Scout 14 off my list. Bought one through an ad in the Single Shot Exchange. Supposed to be like new. Will see when it comes in. Hopefully late next week.

Well, I for one am anxiously waiting to hear more about your new little stevens. I have two of the little 14's, and I'm very happy with them.  I hope you get a nice one.

I will let you know how it looks when it comes in. I mailed check and C&R on Monday. Will try to take some photos to post. Still learning the digital photo thing. I have been looking for one for quite a while.
