Guys  Anyone have any info on L.C. Cummings who made scopes about 100 years ago? Would appreciate any  source of material or book titles with info.  Thanks

Ballard6:
See " Ahead of its time - The Cummins "Duplex" Riflescope"   in the 2005 Gun Digest, page 86.  This 5 page article by Clarance Anderson tells about all you would need to know.
If you do not have this GD try Rudi at the ASSRA Archives. He will have it.
Cummins were internal arjustment scopes with one x-hair in each focal plane.  Quite unique and not often seen.  Rigid mounting, no recoil spring.  How long is yours?              Best     andyZ

Nick Stroebels book "Old Gunsights and Rifle Scopes" has a little info on Lawson C. Cummins' scopes.
Do a Google search for "Lawson C. Cummins". There is quite a bit of information out there.

I sold two of them to a scope oriented collector in the past six months.  He is currently making proper mounts for the one which was not mounted on anything; the other one is on a Maynard 16.

Contact me for his name and number if you wish to talk about them.  He is quite knowledgeable.   tbuffum@bendroadband.com

Thanks to all for the suggestions. The Cummings scope on my Stevens is 18" in length & uses Stevens mounts. Not sure of the power. Best

I had a Maynard 2 bbl set, one had an original Malcolm, the other a Cummings. As I recall, the Cummings was of superior optics and definitely more usable than the Malcolm, although I believe it may have been of more recent production. Like maybe a couple of years. A few years in those days meant a lot! I think it had some gold bridle rings both ends?? Anyhow, what a neat find in an early target scope!
