I Know this is not a cartidge arm to say the least but I wanted to show off my new  Remington target rifle. Can't wait until they ship it. It wieghs in at 18 lbs.  in .36 caliber. It will take alot of work to get it in shooting condition but the bore is nice and clean, no rust.

Wow Mike,

That looks old enough to be one of old Eliphat Remingtons handmade originals. You do a good restoration job there, ya hear?

Nice old rifle.  How do you know the bore has no rust?
I won a NOS .30 barrel blank off ebay. The seller said it was perfect. It was a perfect pile of rust. Angry He said it must have happened during shipping lol. Buyer beware?
Is it a bullet gun or round ball? Huh

I would not buy a barrel off of ebay, i've had nothing but bad luck untill they stopped listing barrels about two years ago.I've found a LOT of ebay sellers either lie or could care less. I bought three barrels trying to find a original for my High wall, and all were junk. Now i've had a lot of luck buying reloading gear, but those are much more likely to be in good shape.

Not sure if it's a slug gun or a ball gun, will not know until I get it. I trust the auctioneer, I have purchased quite a few guns from him and he has not lied yet.  The Westley Richards Improved Martini I purchased at his last auction is uglier than sin, stocks look like it may have been used as an OAR for a canoe, but the metal is clean as a whistle and the bore is as new. it's getting re-stocked now.
I doubt that it is a real Remington, as Remington sold locks and barrels to lots of rifle builders over the years. I will be able to tell when I take her apart. The set triggers look like early Remington one's to me.

It looks like an honest old rifle, I have two VERY similar guns marked "Louis Devendorf - Cederville, New York" both guns have barrels marked on the bottom "Remington Cast Steel." Actual Remington round ball rifles are rare but it could be one, so keep us posted.

Hi Bob, Yep, I think most real honest Remington barrels were marked on the bottom, I'm hoping this one is. I'm real curious on what the twist rate is. 1 in 28, or 1 in 38, or what. I just wished it had a patented breech plug vice a plain old plug and side barrel.

I wish that Jim Borton with his vast knowledge or muzzleloaders would comment on the rifle, pedigree, value, etc.
