Wickliffe actions

Looking for some information about the wickliffe action. I have read they were based on the 441/2 is that true? How about its strength for a 45-70 load. Does anyone have and still shoot one of the actions. Does the action have anything a guy should watch out for.....Thanks Tommy Auger

As someone else said, the Wickliffes are hell for strong and hell for ugly! I shoot an original first year production in .223. They were made in Hornet through 45-70. Somewhere I read they were offered in 300 Win Mag in 77 or 78.  The present owner of the company is one of the nicest folks I have had dealings with.

There is a good article on the Wickliffe in the upcomming Journal. I just got the printers confirmation today so it should start going out soon.
