Howdy, looking for opinions on gunbroker, gunsamerica and the like...I have a pair of old Colt 1877's I want to sell off to help finance a Hepburn project...anything I should know?Horror stories?Have you had good luck or is it a pain?

Anyone wanting to sell or trade a single trigger Hepburn  action is welcome to make my day too!Tomorrow is my Birthday, I must find a Hepburn!

I haven't sold anything on the auctions yet but I have been buying guns on Gunbroker, AuctionArms, and GunsAmerica for a couple of years. Gunbroker is my favorite so far. There seem to be more guns for sale there. I would list it with very low starting bid and a hidden reserve. Some may disagree with this but if the starting bid is near or over what I want to pay, I will not bid. If it does not make the reserve you just relist it. If it fails to meet your reserve for too long, you may need to rethink your reserve. Good luck.

ill second gunbroker.  i ve seen some remarkable sales on that site.  as usual know who you are dealing with because g/b wont help in a bad deal.

if you are talking big money then cashiers check or postal m/o lots of the sellers take postal m/o only. there are lots of con artists out there.

just another thougth gunrunner brings some great prices too. they run live auctions.

I sell everything modern through Cherry's Fine Guns. Fair dealers with wide circulation on there web site, good consignment terms too.

You won't hit the lottery with them though they price to sell not sit waiting for the guy that overpays. Auction you hear about those high dollar sales but not much said about guns that went too cheap.

Kevin Cherry is on the board of the Colt collectors Assoc, knows his market, site has a couple of 1877's listed now, have a look

i guess it depends on what you have to sell.  yes if i had rifles like cherry lists i would use him but you can always put a reserve prices on g/b to kick the tires so to speak.

Many thanks for the info, gents....these Colts are not minty , they were both well used it seems, but they still work...another friend has suggested dragging them to a gunshow to see what happens, I may try that before going on-line, might be better .

The only trouble with gun-shows is all the other stuff that calls to me as I walk by....dangerous!

Try Gunsinternational.com they are the easiest to use in my opinion.
