Cased Hopkins and Allen with loading tools

This is a medium frame in 44wcf and 44 shot. It includes the loading tools and part of the original carton tacked into the lid with instructions on how to change the firing pin and adjust trigger. I really like these little rifles and would like to share pics and info with anyone else of the same mind. Later, moodyholler

A strong second to leadball's reply! How do you make up your shot cartridges?

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I had a Stevens in .44 Shot, and I used .44 Special cases, with Speer shot capsules. Worked pretty good, as good as these small shot barrels can anyway.
That's a really neat cased set Moodyholler!

Moody,
Nice gun I picked up a H&A in 12 gauge takedown and I intend to make it a 38-55 stalking rifle. I would love to see some pictures of you gun assembled.

Does the barrel of this 12 ga. shotgun screw in or just slip in and held by a set screw? Seems like i've seen them both ways. I wonder if anyone else has reservations about this combination if it is just a slide in barrel?

It is in fact a slip fit but my intention is to thread the action and then of course the barrel. I think slip fit is okay for a 22 plinker but for more strenght and accuracy I want it threaded. That is my plan anyway.

QB, I hear rumors all the time of threaded ones, but have never seen one. I have 12 of the fallingblocks now including one 38-55 and it is a slip fit. MichealJ, they are great old guns and enough different that you won't have to worry about there being two at the range at one time. This is my 38-55 recently stocked by Rob Shumate.
