As far as I know Weaver never made scopes with external adjustment mechanisms. They did make the very best of the internal adjustment target scopes with exposed target knobs. The T Series. Have 2 and they are much better target scopes than the stuff on the market today. In my opinion that is.

Well..... not so fast. While they're great value and a fine scope[ I have three], they are not as good as the current crop of Leupold Competition models and not even close to the March scopes from Deon Optics made in Japan. These scopes feature ED glass, flawless adjustment and are becoming the  gold standard in the benchrest community. On the downside they are over $2m a pop.

tim...did the mount you saw at the gunshow look like the one in the picture below.  If so it was probably made for the Bausch and Lomb Balvar scope which had no internal windage and elevation adjustments, similar to the Weaver V8.  The Balvar mounts were often used with the Weaver V8 as it was a little more robust.  Terry

Terry, no it did not. It had rings over the bases, but in the bases was the adjustment with white, heavily inscribed adjustment indicators. I had Balvars and these were not.

B&L made two styles of bases and rings. The early ones had a ring (two) going over the top of the scope. The bottom half of the "ring" was one piece with a spring loaded plunger extending out under the scope that locked into the base mounts with "white" inscriptions as to adjust.
The second style (shown) used the long spring as shown. If its turned around it will be noted that the "white" inscriptions are there. This side shown are the locking screws (nuts).
