I talked to some people that went to a show shot 3 weeks ago, 700 rounds of Silver Bear in 223 was  $125.00 as I was sitting up at a show this evening, same thing is now $223,00. 22LR were $12.50 tonight they were $21.00.
Do we have a thing to be feared of or, is this big hipe. I went threw this in 1985-86, when primers went from $11.00 per 1000 to $24.00.
i would like to hear from people on this.
Thanks ACE

Ace, few weeks ago local two day gun show. Saturday was like bargain day at wal-mart. If it was black and had brass and went boom it sold. sunday I was there and just managed to get the last 4 50 round bags of 303 british brass. One dealer had 26 ar style rifles, sold them all and supplier told him 6 weeks until he got any more. Powder, primers, bullets, loaded ammo, and black guns are selling like hotcakes. Panic buying??, I would say yes. You have an anti gun president, also vp and secretary of state. So folks are reading between the lines and getting stuff while its still there to get. Obama has done more for the gun industry since he started running for election that anyone else. Background checks have reached their highest levels in years.
Better have it and not need it than need it and not have it could just about cover it all. Frank

Makes me glad I am into schuetzen... a stash of primers, a ton or so of lead and a few moulds, and a few jugs of powder to go with a reasonable number of shells, and I am good at least until 2010 when we can change a good part of the Senate and all of the House!  Let's start working on it now.

gents,
i am not a political type, personally think politicians are liars.
it is almost impossible to get ANY supplies in sanantonio area at all
sportsmans shelves are bare. cabelas is not far behind.
i too remember 85 and still have primers I got then.
i have had many people ask me about this and right now i think we should slow down and let the manufacturers catch up.
i too have a large stash of lead and molds, but also enjoy my black gun, and other hunting, rifles. 1 box of 6.5 142 gr sierra's almost $40.
same box a year ago pre the well tanned fella half that.
i have also heard that the anti gunners are trying to slip in laws on the coat tails of other bills, so i think we should be also raising hell with our senators and congressmen.
give me some of that relief money i could use it.
have a great day time to go shoot an f class match

I hate to say it, but: I TOLD YOU SO!!
Well, not here, but to a lot of people beginning in early 2006. In observing the Bush failure as a conservative president I fully expected a knee jerk reaction of less intelligent conservatives to vote democrat, no matter how looney liberal and we get something like we got.
Personally, I began stocking up in '06-7-8 and completed just yesterday (30-Jan-09) with the delivery of 48lbs of additional powder.
At 65 years old, I should have enough bullets, brass, primers, & powder to last the rest of my life.
Anyone can critisize all they want, but I will still be shooting when when many will not be able to. That is, of course, unless the ATF thugs come kicking my door down taking my guns.

I don't know if people are taking advantage or if it is supply and demand, folks wouldn't pay the prices if they thought they are too high...

I have to admit that I have a bunch of AR magazines that I am sitting on and once a bill is introduced and the prices go up again I will use them to pay off some bills. If that makes me a bad person I guess I am but I don't see it as any different than holding onto stocks until you can get a good price on them. I have dwindled my collection down to Schuetzen, Civil War (for N-SSA), revolvers, lever guns and a blunderbuss. I can't think of anything I need to do that they won't do.

Remember if you don't want to pay the price no one is making you.  Wink  There are some real good deals on non-military weapons out there, you can protect your home just as well with a 12 ga. shotgun and your farm or ranch just as well with a .30-30 and weapons / ammo like that is still available.

c rorbertson, See I did that in the mid 80's. But, things they way they are with my personal things i was a sleep because i couldn't do anything about! Today the first day, people were nuts!! this was a small show, and I saw more ammo go out the front door, than at a monster show!!
I hate to say this, but I think bad things ae on the way, and not far off!1
just my 2 cents!

The only way we have a prayer of stoping a ton of bad laws is if all the people I see in the crowds at the local gun shows make their feelilngs known to their local representatives and to our newly elected president.
They may or may not listen, but if no one voices their opinon, we do not have a chance.

Yep,
Join the NRA and your local state organization and whenever they send you updates on pending laws email and /or call your elected officials and let them know how you feel. If you can do that AND get your shooting / hunting buddies to do it we will be heard. Squeaky wheels and all that.
