BARRELSWAP-Win. to CPA ?

If my information is correct, the large shank Win. High Wall barrel threads are indentical to the current manuf. CPA/Stevens Model 44 1/2 barrel threads.

My question is, will the Winchest barrel screw right up to the CPA receiver and be ready to shoot ?  That would mean the two manufacturers would have the same size and location of extractor (the CPA is at 6:00 o'clock); the same shank length ,i.e., head space; etc.

Has anyone tried this swap or have previously researched the topic ?
If the answere is no, they will not swap w/out modifying work, what is the work needed to be done in order to make the Win. to CPA swap ?

Thanks for sharing your experience w/ this problem.

Even if the thread is the same the CPA/Stevens still has a much longer shank than the Winchester, which could be modified to fit the CPA, but would no longer fit a Winchester. If it is an original barrel I would not do it!

Another thing to keep in mind is that unlike Stevens and Winchester rifles the CPA did not have timed threads till a few years ago. Therefore CPA barrels do not often interchange. I am sure Paul or Gail can tell you when they began to time the threads.
