Chicopee CF

Having run out of winter project, and after years of thinking about it, I have decided to build a DeHass Chicopee center fire action.  As he states that it can be scaled up for cartridges as large as the 38-55, I will scale and chamber it for 32-40.  I’ll make a wood model first to check sequence of work and size of scaled up parts.  Has anyone build one or have any advice to offer?  I’d appreciate the thoughts.

Ted,

Before you start I'd suggest you read this Forum :-

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

It runs to 41 pages in the Homegunsmith Forum and is entitled :-

"A Chicopee on Steroids"

The  authur built his "DeHaas" in 30.30 Winchester. A very interesting and informative article indeed. Lots of tips and techniques are described and illustrated.

Regards,

Harry

I will agree with What Harry is telling you! Since I am not a machines, but not bad with a file in open area's,  I thinking on trying one of those in 22 hornet, maybe on 2010, if my back holds out that long!
Go read that article Harry told you to, it is a great aticle and there has been a lot of guys on that forum that have built that rifle! It would be the only rifle I could build!

Hello Ted,

Here's another link that may be of assistance. A Chicopee .22 Hornet with a twist in the tail. lol.

Every bit of information helps. Hell, I wish I had this much info when I started to scratch build my Borchardt Action.

Harry

A Happy New Year to all my readers.  Smiley
