Question for single shot experts

.

Yesterday my wife and I viewed a hunting program on one of the outdoor
channels which featured a special about hunting a bison with one of the
Chiappa "Little Sharps" rifles.   This is an 80% scale replica of an 1874
Sharps breech loading rifle.   The chap went out and surely killed a nice
bison with one shot with this rifle.

My question revolves around the chambering for this rifle.  454 Casull.
The host of the show said that this was not a current offering from Chiappa
but was a special factory chambering done by them for this buffalo hunt.  The
454 Casull has an operating pressure of  60,000 psi.

This seems extraordinary considering the comments that I have read about the
relative weakness of the 1874 Sharps design.

Comments ?

thanks,  Chris

The rifle was a Charles Daly 80% sharps. Cost about $1000-$1200. The are made in 17HMR, 22LR, 22Mag, 22 Hornet, 218 Bee, 357Mag,38-55, and 45LC.

Nice rig there Tar Baby.  When they come out with the 30-30 I'm
going to get one.

So, on the 1874 Sharps made from modern steels.  You think they
would be up to handling the "Ruger no.1" loads in the manuals.
I believe they are 50K psi.
