Ruger No.1H in 38/55

I wasn't looking for one, but a like-new red pad Ruger No.1H "Tropical" rifle in 38/55 and 5 full boxes of ammo followed me home today. I gather there were a few made in this caliber, and am curious to learn just how many. Serial number indicates 1989 manufacture. Maximum bore diameter is .375", and rifling pitch is 1:12" in a 26" long barrel. My preliminary thoughts are that this rifle ought to be a pleasure to shoot and just the thing for midsize game should I choose to hunt it.

Plan on reloading, as much of the factory ammo is a lot larger diameter bullet than your bore, and will lead with cast. Most jacketed ammo will really work great in that .375" bore, as is.
