I gotta be honest however, I've been cheating on my oldtimer's a bunch since I sold off some stuff and picked up a second 20TAC, this one a Dakota model 10 with English walnut and a 26" Lilja bbl. You just put the crosshairs on anything out to about 350 yards and when you pull the trigger they just fall over without a twitch and you get to watch it all through the scope.....simply amazing caliber. This is one of many we cleaned up this week in South Dakota.

(It's the least gross of all the carnage shots we took.)

One for the freezer with my 45/70 and 457125 Gov't bullet. Received the bullet mold in trade from 38 Cal... thanks again David!

Also filled tags this year with my Ruger #1 in 7mm STW and a 50's era Husky FN Mauser... (that's one of those funny guns with a steel rod and handle thingy that slides into the action) Wink

For squirrels I like to use my #4 RB in 32 S&W long with factory wadcutters, for the last few years, a 260 Browning Low Wall for deer and a Ruger #3 in 45-70 for bear.

I have used single shot rifles (exclusively) for hunting since the late 1970's.  Ruger No.1's in .22-250, 7mm Rem Mag and .30-338 Mag.

Currently building a 5.6X50R Martini Cadet for shooting "ground dogs".

Got myself a tasty little Manitoba jack tonight with the cadet Smiley

I put the gun together using a .223 fluted varmint barrel from a Savage bolt gun. Utilizing the original .223 chamber, I cut the barrel back just enough to use a necked down, full length, 357 Max case. After cutting a rim and rethreading it I was good to go. I haven't prettied it up yet, two years later Undecided, but it's such a shooter I don't care..... an honest 1/2 MOA or better consistantly.

55 grain Vmax, 17.2 grains H4198, Rem. 7 1/2 primers.

Anyone care for jacks done in the slowcooker? I love'm!!! Cheesy

Best Regards,

Darryl
