I just got back from Cliff, NM, where I visited with Al Story.  He has been having some trouble with the BATF regarding his paperwork abilities, but his Borshardt rifles are beautiful.  He had a broach made and pulls it through the action that has been milled round to size to make the square hole for the falling block.  At about $5,000 they are out of my price range. Shocked

Yep,  Monarch Tool & Die in Stevensville, Mt, aka Argus Barker;makes a great Borchardt rifle only.  Problem around $6 grand for single trigger about a grand more for DST's, and no delivery time guarantees.

I still have faith in Shiloh bringing out their Borchardt, but they just bought out Carmen Axtell (M1877) so the Borchardt dream is fading.

Sadly, it seems that no-one can make a full replica Borchardt Rifle commercially for much less than about US$ 4.000.00. Some makers may sell you an action, but even that won't be inexpensive.

Given that the new owners of Action Castings are supposedly bringing out the old time single shot actions in a cast kit form in the New Year, it may pay for any budding enthusiastic home gunsmith to hang fire until then, to see precisely what will be available and at what price.

For those interested in a Borchardt, it was listed in the Action Casting Company's leaflet and webpage, so I assume the new owners will produce it again.

I have pictures of one example of a Borchardt barreled action made from the old Action Castings kit by a gentleman in California, and it looks damn good indeed.
