I was looking  through some old journals yr.2000 yesterday .I found the column CLASSIC  CARTRIDGES  very interesting with a lot of history on old cartridges, my kind of reading. Why was this column dropped from the journal? It seems it should have a permanent place there.     THANK  YOU   J B BOOKS

Because that column was wrote by John Campbell who was editor at that time. When he was editor no more the column stopped!

JB,

In the meantime you might try Ken Waters "Pet Loads". He has quite a few of the more common old cartridges in there along with a short history of each and his "Pet" loads he's worked up in his rifles & pistols. These are a compilation of his articles on them from "Handloader" I think it was. The nice thing is that the powders he lists are available unlike some of the older books out there.

The general interest by shooters & collectors in "classic cartridges" is increasing more and more as the loading dies and components are becoming readily available. Certainly am interesting topic in any magazine the I buy.
