	hi, does anyone know anything about this maker ?? Matteson F .A. Inc Canajoharie, NY i have a very nice farquharson rifle made by them . 	Tom Don't have my reference material at hand but if I recall, the Matteson was an attempt to improve the Hauk action and while its appearance is somewhat similair to the Farquharson, it is quite different from a Farquaharson internally.

	The Matteson action is discussed in the Frank de Haas book: A Potpourri of Single Shot Rifles and Actions pages 37-40. As Warkshop noted, he started out trying to improve the Hauck action, but this appears to be his second circa 1987 design attempt. By the time the book was written (published in 1993) it was already gone, so I suspect you have a very rare bird in hand!

It looks a lot like this rifle that Tom Ondrus has here.
