greetings all,

still thinking about making an accurate 22 lo-wall. just picked up a win 52 barrel on gunbroker. never saw a 52 that wasn't accurate. somewhere around here i must have a doner wall hidden in a corner.

just what i need another project.. Embarrassed.

does anyone have a list of all the things we came up with on the old shooters site to make a lo-wall shoot???

As best I recall, oh aged and honorable ancestor, my personal strategy evolved into something like, "Contact JD Steele and..."   Cheesy

He was the one who had been putting forward the most ideas and doing the most experimenting to defend the honor of the noble Winchester against the depredations of those nasty old M**tinis and others.  Wink

Key items involve (in addition to the usual cutting properly fit threads with everything square to the receiver face, etc) having that clunky extractor fit well and solidly, getting the right amount of firing pin strike at the right part of the rim, etc, etc.  All of this must be accomplished during the proper phase of the Moon while facing East and chanting, "I believe, I believe, I believe, " under a painting of Harry Pope.  Reading chicken entrails, sacrifice of various livestock, etc is optional.  Roll Eyes

HTH, your Green Grandson.

spending a bit of time re-reading all the Calfee articles on rimfires in Precision Shooting might be beneficial.  Yeah I know he does bold guns, and he only shoot close up,  but some of his ideas regarding chanbering and ignition might have value.  I'd love to see what he might do with a 200 yd rimfire singleshot sometime--- if he'd be willing to take on the challange

I have tried suggesting this to him, but it's a no go.  He is a 50 yarder bolt guy forever.

Of course, your mileage may differ

Calfee seems to be more interested in entertaining the readers of Precision Shooting. I tried to get him to build me a bolt gun to no avail.
How would one get hold of JD Steele?
