I have a hiwall in 33-47 which I use occasionally, but the cases were 32-40s which I belled the mouths a bit and fire formed with my standard load of H4227. I don't think I've ever split a case, that I recall.

John- Just use a .338 expander ball (maybe  a Hornady tapered one) in any die body bigger than the 33-47 case- eg 38-55, 338 Win Mag, etc, or if you have a Lyman "M" die, get a .338 expander for it. Belled and shooting works too!

Hey singlyshot, you don't have a .33-47 chamber neck reamer, do you?  I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with the Segrist rebore of an original #3 octagon h-w barrel I got a while ago.  I stuck it on a receiever and it shoots great with a bullet I got from Pop, but it's a pain to breech seat through that tight neck!  We can talk about it @ CSV-BMC in June, I guess.

Froggie- All you really need is the right decimal reamer- usually less than 10 bucks, to convert a 33-40 to the 33-47. Of course, it will not give you a throat! Check out Dave Manson's catalog. page 7- neck and throater combo $50- FREE if is used in printed article!!!!!!!

Willis formed 6 cases this morning, used regular load, COW to the top of the case and a 60 veg. wad on top.

A very close friend shared this approach with me last night.

Worked Great

John- we used 10 gr Bullseye, COW, wax wad to seal to form lots of the sharp shoulder wildcats- you can lose some that way, especially with radical reforming! Often blew cases out to straight (308, '06, etc.) to reform also.

Willis I need to apologize!

About the time I figured out how to get on the chat my work load increased due to my new job position and it is hard to find time to get on now days.

I went out this morning with my new tube sight and the 33-47 and I am one happy camper with today's results!

I am getting ready for the ISSA Regional in May and want to give my friends a run for the money in Iron Sight BR.
