German Aydt Schuetzen Rifle

I'm considering buying a German Aydt from a friend. This rifle has an outside extractor and appears to be chambered in 8:15  X  46R but the chamber does not have a rim-recess, it looks sort of like a Maynard breeching.  The rifle is in very nice condition and appears to be original.
Is this breeching system original, every German Aydt I see is somewhat different.   HELP---  thanks for any and all info ---  leadball

Yes, a flat breech face is completely normal in many Aydts... including mine.
Odd when you have the action closed and empty, to see this big GAP between the block and the breech-face of the barrel... but it's supposed to be that way.

Buy it, load it, shoot it, and have fun! Smiley

The gap between the Aydt breech block and the barrel face frees you from depending on factory 8.15 x 46 R cases or from turning down the rims on .30-30s.  I shoot mine with cases formed by just running .30-30 or .32 Special cases into an 8.15 die and fire forming.  It's been years since I made them. I may have trimmed them but cannot remember (old age!!). Present case length seems OK on mine.
