Jake - you might try shooting it off the barrel with the forearm removed and see what results you get.

Jake - I don't know why someone hasn't posted on this yet as I know that there are more knowledgable people that myself out there.  From my meger expience first is your forearm hanger solid next is your forearm solid on the hanger.  it is also my understanding that you do not want the forearm wood touching the action.  also when the rifle is fired and the barrel is doing its harmonics thing the barrel should never come in contact with the wood.  that is if you want a truely free floating bbl.
I have a rifle that shoots much better with a shim between the very tip of the foream and the btm flat of the bbl.  Just another way of tuning the bbl.  I hope that I have not mislead you - you have a good day now - the rimfire - cdpersons
