I just checked a 32 long cast frame and it has a "S" on it? I have a forged  frame without, have not checked the others yet. Why don't someone start a post on this and see what we find.

Checked mine and found:
#8 Forged 18XXX  has an S
#3F Cast   36XXX  has an S
#2   Cast   18XXX has an S
  
Keep you sword and your plow share, know how and when to use them.

I've got to catch up.  I checked my Pacific - all original and I don't see an "S" anywhere.  It is a 12,xxx rifle.

Just checked the font of the receiver on the latest #3 Gallery I recently purchased, and it has the "S" stamp on it. This one is a very late version, probably from around 1889-90.
