That is a real nice rifle

I would sure like to see a picture of it next to another Stevens.  I always heard the Ladies Model was stocked ligher and more "delicate"  would be intresting to compare side by side.

Never saw one in person all my years.  How did you find it

Larry Orr was at Missula Mt. gun show on his way to the  Reno show about a month ago and  he called me on his cell phone and told me what he found and the $$ I told him to buy it. I wish it had more case color but beggers cant be chosey. The feller that sold it found a better one but this one was in his collection for 25 years. The gun was built in 1895 I believe he said

I believe Leroy Mertz in Fergus Falls still has one for sale its nice but its been drilled for blocks and he still wants full price

This gun has a sleeved barrel... Yea I know, but I did not pay no where near full price and I can live with a sleave but I cant live with extra holes or cracked stocks

This gun will due for now till a minty 55 comes along

BTW this gun really stacks em' in there its a pleasure to shoot

On the way back from Raton I stopped at the Cabela's in Kearney, NE.  One of the other customers was rather cute young lady wearing a t shirt with the message:  Silly Boys!  Guns Are For Girls!

Hey MM

The picnic table its on was painted by my daughter and she got to pick the color soooo you guessed it .... PINK  W/ green stools

Now a picture of a Ladys rifle on a pink table is going just a little to far

"you boys would never let me live that down"

rafter-7

in the one pic you can see the pink leg of the table and the other has the stools with the other guns I took pictures of that day  4 other rimfires I picked up this summer.

I know it's generally scorned by true accuracy enthusiasts, but you'll find that the Winchester 77 with the box magazine (yours) can in some cases be one of the most accurate RFs you'll ever see. They have two receiver screws, so interesting things can be done with the bedding. The down side is that they seldom will empty an entire magazine without at least one malfuntion. Just a passing comment since this is, after all, a single shot rifle forum, but I did think it might be of interest to some of the more avid squrrel hunters here.
Regards, Joe

Rafter-7 made a comment    "This gun has a sleeved barrel... Yea I know, but I did not pay no where near full price and I can live with a sleeve but I cant live with extra holes or cracked stocks"     Undecided
that reminded me of a ol boy in northern Ohio who has since passed on.
He was a collector of single shot rifles and a gunsmith. A regular at the Ohio Gun Collectors Shows.     Smiley

I was at his home just weeks before his passing. In one room alone there were in excess of 300 single shot rifles. Many of them were Stevens, Ballard's, Winchesters.  Many had brass barrels or liners in them. I asked him about this as some of the brass barrels were made by him. He stated that often the shooters of that time would reline a brand new rifle in the belief that a relined barrel shot better. The brass barrels gave the shooter more weight out where they needed it.     Wink
I wish I could go back to that day as he gave me the pick of the room but at that time I was deeply into muzzle-loading and thought little of single-shot rifles. Oh my!  Embarrassed
Any thoughts on relined barrels shooting better? Are there any who remembers such activities? He had lots of excellent targets with the data written on them to prove his point.  After his passing none of his rifles or machinery came up for sale. It was ALL willed to his tenant farmer lithely "lock, stock and barrel"    4227

good question.

Larry and I both agree that this gun was sleeved along time ago  and an excellent job was performed dare I say the best I've seen as for as workmanship goes. The chamber is the tightest of all my rimfires RWS ammo goes in with a nice snug fit and on the other end wolf match ammo has to be forced in. My Anschutz 1413 match had a tight chamber but this stevens has got that one beat.
The trick to successful rimfire shooting is finding the ammo that your gun likes and I believe its all about finding the ammo that correctly fits your chamber. What I've found as the guns get newer the chambers get bigger.
