I was trying to make some homebrew spray case lube using isopropol alcohol and lanolin. Stuff does not seem to disolve in each other which suprised me. Have any of you made spray case lube and what do you mix?

On another board there was a fellow who makes it from Lanolin and 'alcohol'  - he didn't specify.  I tried 90% isopropyl and it didn't work.  Perhaps ethanol or methanol.

here's one link: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

also a thread on castboolets.com.

I've tried the same thing... Isopropyl (90%) and anhydrous lanolin.
Didn't work worth a crap..

I went back to using Hornady One-Shot spray lube (best spray lube I've found), and Imperial Sizing Die Wax for the tougher jobs..

Someone here not long ago suggested lanolin as a case lube (straight, not mixed with alcohol).  I haven't tried it yet.

Now, if you're gonna try dissolving something into a liquid.. I want to find what will be a solvent for Imperial Sizing Die Wax!  THAT would be a good spray-lube!

Imperial on the fingers of your right hand while handling the case is generaly enough.  Leave the left one dry to use on the press  handle. Even when Case forming Imperal hand applied is quick and easy.  I used to use all the other methods but gave them up.

Try disolving the lanolin with mineral spirits. It will take some mixing but it will desolve. I use it this way as a bore dressing after I clean.

Since lanolin is imperfectly soluble in alcohol, you can expect that some of it will not disolve. Simply let it sit and then decant off the good stuff. I have seen it stated on other boards, that one needs to use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to get the project done right. Some brands of Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol are 99 percent. There might still be a small percentage which does not dissolve, even after the 99 percent treatment.
