A #2 Winchester

I have had a .38-72 barrel on order with Badger since the beginning of time.  It was supposed to be ready in September (16 weeks).  Not surprisingly, they didn't make that deadline - but the fact that they haven't made it yet, and they have promised at least three times to call me back and tell where it is in the que when I call to ask - this gets really really old.

I'd go somwhere else in a heart beat but I cannot find anyone that can make a 30" full octagon #2 Wichester profile - No, Geen Mt. does not make that profile.

I don't care much about what twist it  might be.  12-14" twist would be fine, but it has to be a #2 full octagon.

Any suggestions?  I'm counting on this barrel to go elking this fall so time is running out (by gun work standards).

Brent:

I would expect that you have a snowball's chance in, well, a warm place to get the Badger.

I would think that most any barrel maker would octagon a blank for you, but generally it is pretty expensive.  I remember that PacNor does offer the option. I have had good luck with PacNor barrels and their sevice.

Ron Snover used to octagon barrels, and likely still does. Steve Durren also can octagon a barrel.

Or you could get a #3 from GM and spend a little quality time with a draw file... <g>

Glenn,
Thanks for your suggestion - quality time with a draw file is something I will reserve for my prison years I think.  But I appreciate the thought.

I like your PacNor barrel idea a lot better.  I wonder where I can find their website?

If I were to find such a beast, would you be interested in mounting and chambering (I think I can find the reamer)?  I would be doing the polish and blue myself.
