Book: Building Double Rifles on Shotgun Actions

I don't know if the subject of Double RIfles is properly related to Single Shots.... (they're kinda like two single shots roped together, right?).
I will not be offended if this thread is sent to the corn field by executive order  Smiley

I just picked this book up... "Building Double Rifle son Shotgun Actions"..
I'm finding it a very interesting read!

Things that I'm learning about double rifles on shotgun actions;
1) Good lord, it's a lot of work!
2) Good quality double barrel shotgun actions of decent design CAN hold rifle pressures, as long as you don't get nuts with what rifle cartridge you chamber it for.
3) Regulating the impact points of the two barrels is more than just an exercise in trigonometry and measurement.
4) Have I mentioned how much work is involved?

Somewhere around here I have an old Remington double barrel with external hammers... I may dig it out and give it a look with new eyes...
A .40-65 Double Rifle would be a really big grin to take to the range!
(I'm not sure I'm that ambitious... but it'll be fun to think about the project for a while!)

If anyone else has the book, and some experience with double rifles...
I'd love to hear your opinions about it! ( "The guy is right-on!" or "This guy is COMPLETELY off his rocker!" )

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Gunworks Muzzleloading Emporium in Springfield, Or. has been doing these conversions to blackpowder shotguns for a number of years. Once converted they usually sell them anywhere from $500-$1200, depending on condition, make, and model of shotgun used for the swap.
I've seriously looked at a couple with interest, as they're far more affordable than original double rifles.

I have the book and have also acquired a Belgian Guild gun (12 ga) with all the required lock-ups. Alas, I have several other gun related projects before I can begin this journey. I am looking forward to it though.

I have a double 10ga.  IF I could get two rifled chokes all I'd have to do is add sights!  It's been a LONG search.
