Frame or Block Hung Hammer ??

Hello Guys

What think you all on the relative advantages and disadvantages of hammers that are hung on the block and travel (like a 'Wall), versus those that are hung on the frame (like a CPA) ??

Which works best for target work, which for hunting ??
Does one have an advantage in getting a good stock configuration ?
Is one better with a scope ??

Any other issues (triggers, geometry, plain ol' personal preference) ??

Personally, I prefer to eliminate that specific part - no hammer is much better!  one hard choice less, too  Roll Eyes

You Martini folks - Give your thumb a job, keep it off the streets and out of trouble - it will greatly appreciate the chance to prove its worth.   Smiley Smiley

Know anyone that wants a fancy old Martini sporter .577-450.  My thumb just isn't happy with nothing to do.

A block hung hammer does a better job of getting out of the way for loading and ejection and does not require an angled firingpin. Only the ballard and the winchester had block hung hammers on this side of the water although the Germans used them with internal hammers. I can think of no disadvantages to the block hung system.

I haven't shot the Borchardt yet, but this is a serious issue that I'm loosing a lot of sleep over.

Tomorrow morning there may be a window in the weather.  I'm loaded and ready.

Harry, after shooting yesterday, it's apparent that the rifle is going to be more than competitive so my thumb is just going to have to live with it, and I'm afraid you will have to live without it.   

However, I will give a princely sum to anyone that can come up with a good trigger for the beast, Canjar or otherwise.

Gentlemen:

I sure would go for the Zischang double set, but I must comfess that the best  I could come up with is a Jesterly Fortune  Does someone have working drawings?
